i work at tesco on the night shift and had 3 people come in Thursday morning around the 2.50am mark and stole the top 10 ps3 games !

one was a look out and the other's was on the isle helping themselves to ps3 games in a laundry bag of all thing's.

the man who picked the bag up didn't realise it was so heavy and heeded help chucking it over his shoulder and off he went through the fire exit and away.

not bad for 8 min work !

but the police have pictures of all 3 as they entered the store :D

every copy of a whole shelf.

not sure how many there was but the managers done a quick stock take yesterday morning and estimated it to be around the £800 mark.

they were is safe case and locked, when you walk out the front of the store the alrm goes of if you havent taken the game out of the security case but this bloke didnt use the front of the store to exit.

Tesco has recently moved to agency gaurding... From having fully trained in store gaurds.

Although a cost saving measure in terms of payroll, shrinkage will of course, have increased as a result. Also as crazy as it sounds... Some stores have not been given enough security budget to allow for 24 hour coverage.

first of all just because tesco sell them for £800 altogether doesnt mean they will get £800, they will get like £200-£300 max.

also another thing is, the games aren't usually in the cases on the shelves, they are usually dummy copies and the real retail copies are locked away.

its the same as this guy who usually comes into my family's business every month offering a new ish laptop for £100, just because the poor sod he nicked it off paid big money for it doesnt mean its worth that on the street.

This actually varies from store to store... Some will sell full retail copies in 'safer cases' or with Red Tags which beep when you walk through the EAS gates.

Often the smaller stores that only carry a few titles are the stores that don't dummy then. Though given Tesco's recent push in Q3 and Q4 of last year to reduce shrinkage via their UK Business plan which rolled out to stores I am suprised that so many smaller stores still haven't switched over to Dummying their games. But hey ho...

They are worth £800, that is how much they are for sale for so that is how much they are worth. Insurance company is not going to say "well, out the back of a van they are only worth £5 each so thats all your getting".

All the big supermarkets around here seem to have the games in the boxes, but in tagged boxes. Only one has the discs out of the box from what I can tell.
Maybe because you live in seemingly the ****est area of the UK (from your comments on the place) everything out of the boxes. It's not the case everywhere else :p

And you've reported him to the police of course?
