hi,

a friend of mine has asked me to build a complete system on a budget of £750 to £800.

her requirements:

*system needs to easily handle demanding design and media suites, aswell as high end gaming
*audio card
*dual core (if advised)
*64bit
*19" monitor (most advised in relation to budget and overall performance)
*hard drive- about 300GB

and all the other bits n bobs (i.e. power supply, keyboard, case, fans etc...)

any suggestions would be very welcomed

This should be fine for what she needs. It doesn't have a audio card but has sound onboard.

I have the following spec which plays bf2 in full settings and fear in almost full (it wont let me go about 1152x864 :() I dont do much audio/video editing but it copes with it fine

- AMDX2 3800 (I got a nice chip which has let me o/c to 2.4 without any major temp increases)
- DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
- OCZ Platium 2gb set
- ATi Radeon X800XT 256mb
- OcUK Value X300 128mb
- 2x 160gb SATA maxtor diamondmax 9's (raid 0)
- Dell E196FP (off the X800XT)
- 2x Hyundai B71A's (off the X300)

Could pick the rig up for about £400 now I would imagine. But if you want to futureproof it I'd go with something along the lines of lee87's spec
