Friend is looking too build a gaming build for around £800, its a tad flexiable. I've gone for a i5 + 970GTX build and think its pretty well rounded. One point to keep in mind is the ram sticks will go in his main gaming PC as he wants some lights in there, and he has some other 2400mhz 8GB kit to put into this PC.

this is what i would get

This is what i would get defo a 390 over 970 atm due to the higher amount of ram 3.5 is not optimal with games like call of duty even using more nowdays aswell as the added performance in some cases and the cpu cooler and fans will keep it cool and quiet and the fans light up aswell so it will all look nice with the gpu.

You could swap the GTX 970 for the R9 390 as mentioned above, but otherwise it looks fine. I would suggest the Sapphire Nitro R9 390 if going for AMD.

Mostly went for the 970GTX for heat, but had a look at the Nitro and it does well. Think I will update too the Nitro and keep the rest about the same, maybe look at the Shadow Rock cooler.
