I made a post on these forums last year asking for some spec advise, but wasn't able to take the plunge at that time, and so I'm still using my 6 year old PC, but I'm now in a position to buy a new PC to be used mainly for MMO's and FPS.

Budget is £800.

I have some parts already:
# Monitor (Dell U2412M), OS (Win 8.1), Case (Fractal R4), Keyboard, Mouse, Headset are not required

# Needs to have a 250+ GB SSD (additional seperate HDD is not required)
# Modular Power Supply preferred
# I'm able to dabble in CPU overclocking

Given you've asked for a modular power supply, how does this float your boat? It's my first pc suggestion, so you might want to wait for one of the more experienced forum members to chime in as well.

YOUR BASKET
1 x XFX Radeon R9 290 DD Black Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (R9-290A-EDBD) with FREE Kingston 60GB SSD £289.99
1 x Asus Z97-K - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£14 Saving** £243.58
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £74.99
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £73.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01) £55.99
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache WD10EZEX - OEM ** Single Platter ** HDD £41.98
1 x Antec Kúhler H2O 950 Liquid CPU Cooler £34.99
1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £13.49
Total : £829.00 (includes shipping : ).

You can save some money on the PSU and go for (what I think is) a semi-modular SuperFlower Golden Green 550W PSU, and if you don't need the DVD drive then again that brings things closer to your £800 budget.

Cheers all.

I've not installed a water cooler before - are they easy enough to install?

I've not used this exact unit but its pretty easy, firs you just mount the rad, after that you just need to add the back plate and then the front part. Its easy enough.

I've just found this video guide for the 1250 - I haven't listened to the whole thing, but it sounds quite comprehensive:
