Gaming rig check for a mate

Can u guys check that this build is sound and if there are any improvments that can be made (will be using a 24'' monitor)?

Thanks.

It looks close to a spec I am considering for a new build. Isn't the PSU a bit over specified for the bits you are putting in it? I believe the TDP of the CPU is 125W and the GPU is 151W, so I doubt the whole thing will take 400W at maximum and idle at perhaps 100W or less.

The motherboard you have chosen cannot do symmetrical Crossfire.

I would look at the following parts:

Phenom II X4 955BE ~ £121

Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir CPU Cooler ~ £29

Asus M4A89GTD PRO ~ £108

This motherboard can do symmetrical Crossfire at PCI-E 2.0 8X/8X, has SATA 3.0 and is supposed to be a decent motherboard for overclocking.

OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 Dual Channel ~ £94

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache ~ £58

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1279

This is one of the fastest 1TB hard disks currently available.

Asus ATI Radeon HD 5850 DirectCU 1024MB GDDR5 ~ £249

Antec 900 Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case ~ £74

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-065-AN

SATA DVD rewriter ~ £15

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-099-SA&groupid=701&catid=10&subcat=951

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-090-LG&groupid=701&catid=10&subcat=951

Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply ~ £86

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-117-AN&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=

This is made by Seasonic.

The total comes to around £834 excluding delivery.

Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AMD 890GX (Socket AM3)

The motherboard in the build I suggested is exactly the same apart from the lack of USB 3.0!

If you are not overclocking that much I would consider this motherboard:

However,I prefer the Asus motherboard.

Here is a review comparing both motherboards:
