Hi all.

I'm after a spec for a ~£800 gaming rig. I'd like it to have a clear upgrade route, ie Haswell.

I'm also flexible on GFX card. Initially I wouldn't mind something low end which I can upgrade in a couple of months (maybe when new AMD cards).

Spec away...

I do like to game, but that isn't the be all and end all of my needs. I have office software that I would use as well, but nothing demanding.

I have a separate budget for a monitor and would eventually like to go to a two or three screen set up.

Looks good, though the PSU is more watt's than you need, but does allow for future changes.

I don't agree.

The PSU only has 2 PCI-e connector so it won't handle SLI and not being a massive gamer (as he said above) a GTX 780/690/7990/7970 is off the cards. a decent 500W-550W PSU will suffice.

Id change that spec a fair bit.

Change the GPU to the 7870LE (£155)
Z87X-D3H (£130)
Samsung Evo 120GB (380)
Antec 520W/XFX 550W PSU (£55)
Avier Patriot RAM 2133 Mhz (8gb) (£65)
Better Case. Maybe a 200R/300R. (£50-£70)

Although not being a massive gamer, I would like maybe the possibility to maybe go x-fire in the future. Would this power supply handle this?

What's the difference between the Samsung Evo and the Samsung 840?

The ram has a slower speed, but the same price... is there a benefit to the ram you chose?

I agree with the case. I think I'll go with the 300R.

Honestly one of those 7870's will handle most current games at max easy. And will last a good 3 years if not more... That's if you are bothered about max/high settings.

The psu I was talking about won't. You'd need a 750w psu with 4 pci-e cables for that.

The EVO SSD's are faster and around the same price. They also have a boost feature, which critics are raving about.

The RAM I've chose is slower but its low profile which means big air coolers will fit, with the other RAM air coolers may hit the RAM's heatsink (not fit)...

Thw 300r is a great choice. :)

Advice taken on both the SSD and the GFX Card.

Could you recommend a suitable PSU (good quality whilst not breaking the bank :) )

Would I need an a air cooler, or would you recommend one of the reconditioned Corsair units on offer?
