I don't consider my system to be low spec by any means but it does fall slightly under the recommended specs for Fallout 4. I will be upgrading to ensure I have a top notch experience at 1600p.

Aside from Fallout 4, I play a lot of Arma 3 and do the odd bit of video editing/encoding from time to time using Vegas Pro.

My planned budget is £800 but this can be upped by several hundred if I'm going to see a worthwhile improvement for my money.

This is my current setup:

i7-2700k with Corsair H100 cooler
8GB RAM (2x4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600mhz)
EVGA GTX780 Classified
Samsung 850 EVO 120gb (OS)
Samsung 850 EVO 500gb (Games)
2x Western Digital 3TB WD30EZRX (Media/Storage)
Corsair HX1050 PSU
Asus Xonar DGX PCI-E soundcard
Coolermaster CM690 v2 case
Dell U3011 (2560x1600) and an old smaller Dell for a second screen.

I'm sure there will be some parts that don't need to be upgraded such as the storage. I don't need an OS either as I'll continue using my Windows 7 key. The PSU is around 3.5 years old and I'm not sure if this should be swapped out or not given the age.

My preference is an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU.

Hit me up with your recommendations, I need to have this up and running before 10th November :D

Err dont want to disappoint you but you have a good setup already.

Is the 2700K overclocked?

Maybe wait to see if some hardware review site will test a bunch of GFX cards on Fallout4 before spending any cash?

Is your gpu 3gb or 6gb version? I would say the best upgrade would be new gpu eg gtx 980ti. This would be the best upgrade that you would feel straight away in gaming.

How often do you render videos and how big are they (time) as i7 2700k may be enough for now?

Yep, it's running at 4.4ghz.

My only worry is that the reviews won't be out until after release, by which time it's too late. If the recommended specs (gtx780 3gb) are based on 1080p then I'm going to struggle at 1600p with my current card.

My CPU is under the recommended specs (4790), and even though I overclock the 2700k it feels like a newer CPU would be the safer option.

I've waited far too long for this game for my system not to be ready at launch. I've got the time booked off work, not taking any risks :)

It's the 3gb version. I've not had any problems playing at 1600p with 3gb so far but don't want Fallout to be the first one!

Fairly infrequently. Maybe one 30-60 minute video a month. My 2700k is absolutely fine for rendering, no complaints.

To be fair Arma3 is a bag of crap, I last read online that it runs like a hippo buried in concrete?

Depends on the mod. I've got it running nicely on my setup, but still drop to 30-40fps fairly often. It's not a hugely fast paced game so a solid 60 isn't necessary, but it would be so much nicer to play if they optimised it some more!

I dont see you needing to change the cpu for awhile yet and as for Fallout4 it should not struggle no matter what the recommended specs.

I would just play the game with your current rig, save your money.

If it doesn't play as smooth as you like when it's out, then go splash your cash...
