looks good but I'd still stick with intel atm. Better bang for buck once overclocked.

I'd change the mb to the asus p5q p45 based motherboard and get the intel 7400 and overclock the pants off it :)

If you want to save a bit more as well then just get the powercolour 1gb 4850. Plays any current game nicely.

As for a cpu hsf, look at the arctic cooler 7 pro. Cheap and does the job well.

EDIT: This was my spec though kennys PSU and HDD might be better:

I don't understand why people are spec'ing you Intel 775 as it's at the end of the road.

I would advise going with AMD at that budget, the Phenom II Tricore is a very good gaming processor.

I would go with Kenny's spec personally, but with a better PSU like Corsair (in fugus' spec).

Jus a few pennies over £800 with free postage. But if you dont care about overclocking for the moment, forget about the cooler and buy a 4890 instead.

I'm sure a 755 will last me long enough. There will be newer stuff released when i upgrade.

After looking at these new phenoms (I'll admit I haven't been keeping up with the latest stuff) they look like they might be about the same as an OC'ed C2D assuming you're up around 3.6ghz. Single threaded apps however seem to run faster on the C2D going by what reviews I can find. And seeing as most games are still single threaded well you know what I'm going to say :)

Stick with intel for now. It's the cheaper and most likely quicker option in games.

Well more and more games and apps are beginning to benefit from multiple cores, even goin so far as quad cores. SO what about this time next year? When quad core becomes the "recommended requirements" for most games? Youre then stuck with a dead socket.
