Hey,

I'm speccing the majority of a new build. I have a good Coolermaster case, Antec 650w PSU, decent optical drive and Vista 64 from my old pc. I don't require a keyboard or mouse.

For around £800 I need a monitor (pref 1920x1080+at least 23") and the rest basically! Any ideas?

The only parts I'm solid on are core i5 2500k oem and corsair a50 hsf. Mobos, memory, hdds, gpus are all swirling around. Any thoughts on the rest?

Thanks.

Didnt know what preference you had on Graphics Cards So i just put an Nvidia
card in there.

That was fast!

That all sounds like good advice and the nVidia card is my preference. Do you think that the Dell monitor is worth the extra outlay? There are much cheaper 24" and even 25" on oc.

Yeh i was looking around the forums anyway thats why it was so quick.

In my opinion it depends on what you want from the monitor.

My opinion is Quality over size. I would much rather have a really good 23" monitor
than have a cheaper monitor that is 24-25".

Monitor is changable though just take a look on the site and see what you like really.

How's this?

SSD is optional, if you don't want it then use the extra money on 8gb memory or a higher end graphics card. Depends what you're going to be using it for.

if you go with that silly suggestion you wont be able to overclock, the main difference is that you can overclock on the p67 boards and not on the h67 boards, so buying a 2500k and a h67 would be a complete waste of money. also a 6870 is a waste, pretty much the same as a 5850/5870, id ditch the ssd, get a p67 board and either a rev 1 6950 for £200 and flash to 6970 or a 560ti.

what am i looking for? the part where it says overclocking abilities, then says p67 cpu only and then h67 gpu only? if hes using dedicated graphics, on board gpu overclocking will never be used. that post proves my point.

i would suggest something more like this, you can overclock the cpu easily, 8gb ram, 1tb storage. you can always nuy an ssd at a later date, i recommend you get windows 7 too.

and again this time with 4gb memory, 500gb hdd, lower spec mobo(still p67), air cooler, but because of all that you can fit an ssd into the budget...Total £798.89

If its mainly a gaming build you won't need any more than 4GB memory imo, and you could use the money towards a better CPU cooler and HDD (been hearing a lot of good things about the F3)

Why CPU cooler. You can get a hell of a lot out of an i5 2500k on air.

Money saved on RAM and even a downgrade to a moderate air cooler could buy you a noticeably bigger monitor.

When I said better, I meant better value for money :) Sorry should've made that clearer!

Yeah I heard the 2500k runs quite cool anyway so an A50 should suffice, and hence better value for money :D
