800D case mod dropped GPU temps by 8 10 degrees...

Hmm.. just gave me an idea for my case that I seem to be suffering bad temps with. Will need to try and get some grills :-) (Will Try card board and a fan first however.)

Unsure of the OP's fan, could you be more specific, and take a better photo of which fan you have added please? Obviously a good result though!

I do the same thing with the second fan blowing up into the lower chamber and found the temps dropped a lot as well very helpful little mod

Would a better fan in the proper mount not give the same result?

Also how have you mounted the extra fan, or is it just sitting there?

I have just ordered one of these and a little uncertain whether it is going have adequate air flow. I presumed the 140mm fans would be sufficient.

I will be adding 3 x 120mm fans for exhaust, and adding a 140mm in addition to the stock fan at the bottom.

What would be a good 140mm fan to use for this mod? Pushing decent air?

Cheers

I do the same as the OP with 2 fans, another 140mm on the bottom fits in pretty much perfectly, dosent wobble or vibrate for me.

Yep in theory, hot air rises upwards. Having a fan strategically placed to blow cold air upwards and the extraction of the warm air to the rear prevents warm air circulating around the case, thus keeping it cooler.

This case arrives for me tomorrow, would you advise I place another fan the same as in the above for better results from the start? Or is the case air cooled enough? :)
