My ageing water-cooled rig just wont take on the might of my newly acquired GTX 480 so I'm looking at some options. I don't fancy splurging a huge amount on a new water set-up just yet so will most likely switch to a H70 on the processor and go back to air until the new year. Do you guys think the 800D will fill my short term (quietish and able to contend with a monster heat producing gfx unit) and my longer term aims to kit it out with a couple of custom loops?

Any other case options you guys feel could potentially fit the bill would also be welcome...

i've got a 700D with a h50-1 in it and that's an excellent combination, incredibly roomy and quiet

I say go for the 800D, unless you don't want hot swappable bays or a window then the 700D will do you

I think the price difference is so small that I may as well go for the 800D (and I do like to show off my spiffy hardware when I upgrade lol) Having watched the video reviews I'm sold on those hot swap bays as well and I think the whole thing is ripe for a tasty water mod with enough room for me to having a working box while I do much of that work.

Do you think the H70 is worth it over the H50?

personally no as i got the h50-1 and if you plan on getting rid of it for a proper loop at some point then what's the point in spending the extra on a h70?

You sure? There's around a £40 difference between the two...

Probably your best bet though.

Ordered, opted for the 800D and H70 in the end, I know it means all in I've spent 60 quid more than I could have with a 700D/H50-1 combo but when I sell my existing hardware it should all balance out and I'll swap the H70 into my HTPC to reduce the likelihood of failure.

every time is see/hear about the 700d/800 makes me want one so much.

i think the 700d will be my next purchase in the new year.

My 800D arrived today, absolutely enormous case (I think only one server tower I ordered was bigger than this - easily the largest case I've had in 10 years though), I'll take a few pictures of my build this weekend, I don't expect this to take long to get the wiring right. I was a bit dubious about spending 200 on a steel case but I can see where my money has gone so I'm pretty chuffed with the result.

your right about the steel built case.

i had a antec p190 and in my eye's was the best case i have ever owned (had 5 case's now).

i now have a horrible lian li case which is big but i hate it for these reason's.

1.there is no cable management what so ever.
2.i have water cooling inside and no matter where i put the pump it vibrates very loudly.
3.it's ali so not heavy to make the components absorb the noise.
4.it's my 2nd lian-li case and after the 1st one i said i would never get another one.

please dont ask me why i got rid of my antec because to this day i dont have a clue and wish i kept it now

im saving for a 700d now (dont want a window)

Got my 700D four weeks ago now and they are huge cases easily the biggest case i have ever had but they look the business. Sadly health problems have meant all it's doing is sitting there looking big, black and sweet but hopefully that will change soon and i can transfer my system over to it and get my watercooling loop sorted as well. Even having not done anything with it yet i am certainly happy i bought this over the couple of other cases i was considering.
