802.11n Updater

Not sure if this is old news or not, just chanced across it while browsing the apple store last night.

Looks like it is possible to update the firmware in the Airport on the majority of all recent Macs to enable 802.11n on them.

Only a couple of quid, but kinda sucky how they dont just make it a free upgrade.

Apparantly the upgrade comes free with the Apple router. I forget what its called.... Airport I think.

Yer, the new Apple Airport thing is 802.11n enabled by the looks of it.

Just ordered a Netgear DG834N tho so I think I shall also get this upgrade for the laptops card.

All new MacBooks, MacBook Pros and iMacs come with 802.11n enabled out of the box.

It's only the older Core2Duo models that didn't have it pre-enabled.

Apple must have learnt their lesson because they were heavily slated for selling the enabler

They should really be giving out as a system update then, instead of charging. I know it's hardly any money, but it's still cheeky to make you pay to use hardware you've already bought.
