Hi all,

I need to use 802.1x with a device that doesn't support it.

I have some equipment that needs to go to an establishment that has a "All devices must be 802.1x compliant" protocol. My devices do NOT have 802.1x capability.

Would I be able to use a type of Switch that's 802.1x compliant, have it enabled with 802,1x on the establishment connection side, but leave the other ports as non 802.1x? and it basically be a go between device?

My devices need to connect to their network to be able to send data to the cloud.

I'm stuck, and can't proceed further.
My only backup is to use a 4G router and bypass their network completely, but they are grumbling about that..

I can't see that working. You could indeed add an 802.1x complaint switch but that'd do just that - add the switch. You'd still need to authenticate any clients connected to that switch.

You'd need to add a router that can be an 802.1x client and then NAT things behind that.

Being happy with you working around their 802.1x requirement makes me think they aren't really sure why they are doing it in the first place. If your devices can be installed in a secure area then there's really no need to insist on port security.
