£830 Barebones for gaming & overclocking

I just noticed the corsair is modular too which is nice. You think 520w will be enough? I haven't had a corsair before and general stick to PSUs by companies I trust as I have had power problems in the past.

Corsair are one of the best. The HX series are manufactured by Seasonic who pretty much are the best.:)

520W is more than enough.:)

Looks lovely but a bit more than I'd be comfortable spending on the case.

Would you take one of these over the Antec? Temps & noise are main concerns, but looks & build factor in a close second for me. I have always wanted a Lian Li if I am honest.

Lian Li PC-A06A Aluminium Mini Tower - Silver: £74
Lian Li PC-A05A Aluminium Midi-Tower - Silver: £70
Lian Li PC-A07A Aluminium Midi-Tower - Silver: £68

If I can pick a case then I think I am sorted.

thanks again for the feedback!

EDIT:

Also the antect claims that "you can own any noob ever spawned" and that it will "show everyone that you are the ultimate master of all time".

Can a Lian Li beat that????

I'm not sure a Lian Li could beat that to be honest, I mean it's a pretty bold claim to make.:p

Seriously though, that claim sums up why I don't like the 900 that much. It looks a bit silly really...

The A05 and A06 are small cases. I own the A05 and I love it. It does have a slight flaw in that there's not much airflow to the graphics card (none) but since I'm only using an old card I'm not fussed. The A06 has an 80mm rear fan which would immediately put me off. The A07 is a very good case with a fairly familiar layout.:)

Ok, I'll give the AO7 a go then. The noise and dust concerns are what have put me off the 900. I would really like a quiet PC this time round and my flat is pretty dusty. Also no one has anything bad to say about lian-li :) And yes the 900 is a little bit absurd. Its just that 200mm fan is so huge! Also gpus are enormous these days so space is a premium.

Thanks for the help, I think I'll go and order!

If you want dual core, the 8400 is the way to go (why spend an extra 40quid on the 8500 for an extra 0.16ghz). If its quad then the Q6600 is the obvious choice. C64s spec looks good.

Thanks for the feedback!

Ok, due to problems with The Man, my budget has imploded a bit. Looking at £700 before shipping now I think.

Dropped down to 6400 ram, and also went with the Q6600 because its cheap and awesome obviously.

Also regrettably ditched the Lian-Li because I'm pushing at the edges of affordability and at the end of the day its just a fancy box!

Also said goodbye to my dream of 1TB diskspace. 500gb is plenty for now.

I am loving the price of the powercolour 4870.

Might switch to Vista basic. All i really want is the environment for DX10.

Wait 3-4 weeks and grab an E8600 , they do 4.5-5ghz on air n_n. Prices will drop as well and the 4870 1gb / 4870x2 will be out as well.
