OK so today I removed my 6300 and fitted my new 8320 ..all went well as usual ...., although when I was in BF3 tonight I did notice that the 8320 went up top 46c ( 29-31 idle) as apposed to the 6300 that would only go to about 39c ( 27-30c idle )...is it the norm for the 8320 to run hotter under load ?

The CPU has no Overclock on it

thanx :)

Higher idle temps sounds to me like the thermal paste might not be applied as well, or it may need some time. See if they go down a little in a day or so.

If you're running 8 cores rather than 6 you should expect some increase in temps though.

It should get a bit more toasty with extra cores but maybe the HS isn't perfectly seated. Monitor it and if it does not improve take it off and as teppic suggests re-apply a grain of rice amount of paste and seat it again and see it that makes a difference.

Is there no dedicated 8320 thread to discuss things like this?

Edit - can see your picture now and I would not apply that much tbf. ^ grain of rice is all thats needed.

A bit more than I'd use but it's not like it's loads. See how it is after it's had some time to burn in.

Are you seeing improvements in BF3? I'd imagine you would, but you want to get that CPU overclocked at least to 4.3GHz :)

Lol Teppic I knew you would say that :D

i did notice on BF that is was a tad faster n smoother :)

and yeah I did think at the time ( is that too much )...but i left it as i had the ole school run to do...but i'll keep an eye on it ... you guys suggest

thanx :)
