8320 to i7 2600k... Would you do it?

So I had my 8320 at 4.8GHz but bent my h80 mounting bracket and am now back at 4GHz.

I was going to buy a NH-D15 for about 70 quid when I spotted a few i7 2600k + mobos on a local buy and sell.

If I buy the i7 plus mobo for about £180 and sell my 8320 + crosshair v formula z it may end up costing the same, and I can use my h80 with the i7.

I know skylake and x99 are quite a bit faster than my current build but I dont think they are worth the cost of an upgrade.

Thanks for the advice. There are two adds with these mobos:

1, Asus maximus VI Gene

2, Asus p8p67 pro rev b3

Which one would you go for? I think the first one is a micro-atx board so no hope of crossfire in future. But is the second mobo a really old chipset?

Edit: or even what offer I should make for them? What I mean is are they half decent boards?

Thats what the add said. Yea I tried to look up the board and found that too. Wonder if its the maximus V then...(if thats 1155?)

It's a "IV GENE Z". I made him an offer of £130 for both but he seemed offended by that

I will offer the same for the other i7 + mobo and see how this fella takes it

CAT-THE-FIFTH I probably would not bother unless its one of the new Intel CPUs which has PCI-E 3.0 like an IB or Haswell Core i7.

What graphics card do you have OP and what games are you playing??

I have an r9-290 tri-x, usually play Rust, CsGo and GTA-V at the minute. I just thought it seemed ok if it wasn't that expensive and I would maybe give Rome-2 another go if I thought the i7 would make a difference.

I can run my card at 1150 MHz core, 1500 MHz mem... But what's the point if my 8320 (at 4.8) can't even feed it?lol
