Greetings,
I'm in the process of giving my old pc a bit of new horsepower (i5 760@4GHz) and I'm undecided between the 2 above CPU's.

I believe, in real terms, the 2 above mentioned CPU's have fairly similar performance. All this machine is used for is occasional 1080p gaming with a bit of AutoCAD and Sketchup.

Either AMD or Intel CPU with a motherboard will cost roughly £200, give or take so neither has a massive price difference, just interested in peoples opinions.

I will confess to being well outside the 'scene' when it comes to upgrades now-a-days so I may be well off with my understanding of processors, but any advise would be gratefully received !

What's a 3750K?
Also, assuming you mean either 3570K/3770K, why? We're on 6XXX for Intels Mainstream.

Either way, if you've got the budget for Intel without compromise, you go Intel.

3570k .. fat finger moment. Will edit to rectify !

Also on the why, because not all of us can afford the latest tech, particularly for my usage. Would be money sat there not being used to its potential. I'm quite happy to make do with something older.

If that's second hand a 3570k plus motherboard needs to be miles cheaper than £200, more like £150 or less depending on the motherboard. There have been some very good deals in out members market recently and you can pick up a 4690k plus Z97 motherboard for £180 or less.
