I need a new system for gaming, I only play on a 19' monitor at 1280x1024. I want to try the new E8400 & a GT.

I will be overclockin, so obv I need a mobo & ram that will clock well (hopefully) with the 9x multiplier. Ive started here -

OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - (£170.36)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - (£144.51)
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU - (£70.49)

On the ram, I have Vista 64 so i am thinkin of gettin 4gb of it if I can find some that will clock well enough for this system, like this maybe?-

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8000C5 (2x2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit - £82.24

Have I made a good start? and what mobo/ram?

Thanks in adv for any help i can get:cool:

Forgot to say, I have case/keyboard/mouse etc

Yep that ram is a bargain for that price and is certainly needed for high fsb overclocking which the E8400 requires. Depends how much you are willing to spend on motherboard tbh but the popular ones are ASUS P5K and Gigabyte P35-DS3 variants.

I'd also recommend a third party cooler like the tuniq tower on this week only for £28.

Nice one!

I'm on the right lines then. I dont need rich raid/wifi mobo so hoping to spend £70-80ish, and yes I spotted that ram from the 'offer' thread.

Forgot to mention the cooler, I was thinkin Freezer7, but you think the tuniq is worth the extra few quid?
