my 8400 with tuniq tower is clocked at 3.8 and requires 1.35 v for stability. now this produces temps of 40 at idle and 60 at full load according to cpu id , does this sound a little high ? Also ive read somewhere that not all temp sensing software is good for e8400 , any input welcome

Same as mine, theres nothing i can do to get the chip below ~38 degrees, even under clocking and under-volting and it never drops down, the temp sensors in these chips are just borked to hell.

are you both using realtemp to monitor temperatures? if so do a sensor test.

my 8500 clocked higher with more volts is cooler than your temps so perhaps you didnt seat the hsf properly or have too much thermal paste on?

Yup using realtemp, my E8400 is the old stepping though if that makes any difference.

Its quite amusing, at stock i get 38dc idle, at 4ghz i also get 38dc idle, like i said , temp sensor seems to be borked.
