I have a pavillion dv9850ea lappy the graphics chip installed is artifacting and blanking my screen when any nvidia driver is installed, i know there is a problem with the graphics chip itself ,but when i operate with the basic vista driver all is ok.I don't game with this but i do watch a lot of hd tv/movies through the HDMI port connected to my lcd,my question, is there another basic driver i could try to enable me to watch hd content that is not by Nvidia....(drivers tried - all of the HP ones and THE ones from Nvidia download section)

link goes no were , but i guess up ment laptopvideo, found the website trying to work out how to down load the driver without installing the Driver Detective.

This is a known issue with those laptops (I have a similar model with the same card). Have you updated the bios of the laptop (HP website http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=3717440&os=2093&lang=en), the newer bioses run the laptop fans higher to keep the gpu from melting (literally!).

Once done you will hopefully be able to use the normal driver (I am, but then again ive never gamed on the laptop, just TV/films)
