£850 3 quarter build help please

Did you get yours Fernick? Take it you like it if you did yeah? My local computer shop that specialises in gaming rigs, is charging £448 for 480's :eek:

Yeh i have mine sitting right next to me, still boxed. Finishing the build tomorrow and heading down to overclockers for the CPU.

My last gaming rig was years ago. Built it when the GTX285 came out and that was the last desktop i had. Since then i've had a mac and done no gaming, now missing gaming so much. So i'm sure the GTX 480 wont disappoint. Oh also got 3D monitor for 3D vision. So can't wait to test that out :P

Nice one, I have been adding and removing items to my basket for over a week, placing my final order tomorrow. Just my case I now can't make my mind up on. Am between a Haf X & NZXT Phantom, I think lol (it changes every half hour). Was set on getting the 560 Ti but my basket has the 480 in it now :) .

That offer ends on the 480 soon i think? So i'd hurry :P

I have the HAF 912 myself, got a great deal on it with a GX 750W PSU.

Waiting for a cheque to clear, it's showing in my bank balance but is not available so I take it it is clearing tomorrow....hopefully. I like the HAF range but I want a black interior if my case has a window so it just leaves me with the X. Swaying towards the phantom though :D

I have the motherboard arriving before 12 tomorrow. Also waiting for money to clear... which should become available tomorrow :P Then can get the intel i5 2500k purchased!

Excitement is slightly killing me :P

Nice 1!

My basket so far:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)
Antec TruePower New Modular 750W Power Supply
Samsung SpinPoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Far Cry 2
IC Diamond 7-Carat Thermal Compound

Just a case and a cpu cooler to finalize (I bought a Xigmatech Dark Knight but am looking for something better and ebaying the xigmatech)

Can't wait either, although I am close to £900 in my basket with windows as well, can't help thinking I could have a better system for my money

Get this: http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=AC-000-AC - Much better imho :P

Also i would rate this board better: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-154-MS (same as mine)

if not, get the bundle version: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-014-OP - Same CPU and MB.. just saves u money. (£20 in fact)

I'd also take the SATA III 64MB Cache 1TB WD Black Caviar myself :P

EDIT: For CPU cooler, ive gone for this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-072-AK

I have decided to wait for the new sandy bridge boards and see if new SSD drives are going to be reasonable prices or if the old C300 ones get cheaper in the next month or so. So yeah no build for me until the SB boards are available.

Read reviews of The diamond stuff and it seemed to fair better.
Didn't know they did just cpu and mobo bundles, changed to that. Not sure about MSI I have always had ASUS boards.
As for drives the 2TB will be a main storage drive, I have 2 WD Blue 500gb drives I was going to RAID 0 together as my boot and everyday drive. Then once I can afford SSD I will just ditch them and get another 2TB drive and RAID 0 them together.

Is it a B3 board you are waiting for tomorrow?

Nah. I don't need to wait for the B3 board. I only have one hard drive. At the max 2 when i get an SSD in the future (waiting for SSD releases) and i have 4 usable SATA 3 ports...

I'm getting the model with port 2-5 sata 2 being duff :P

MSI are an awesome brand, I've heard issues with the asus SB boards. So decided with a high end MSI board instead.

Ah ok s that the MSI P67A-GD65? Think I would be similar, 2 SATA 3 for my RAID 0, 1 for my storage, 1 for Blu-Ray and then my dvd writer on the SATA 2 port so think I would be ok too eh? Then when I go on holiday in May I could RMA it if need be maybe.

Yeah thats the one. I was thinking of RMAing it down the line. But I don't think i could be bothered to take the mb out just to fix some ports i dont use! lol

Yeah that's true, Hmm not sure which to go for at all now, thats twice you have swayed my mind lol.

560 Ti to 480 and now ASUS to MSI :D really hope you know your stuff, all I have is youtube and Custom PC mag and this forum, strapped to an iPhone aghh

Well it's the only thing i've known all my life. Worked as hardware engineer in a computer shop, building, repairing and upgrading PC's. I like to think i know what im talking about :P

You'll have a cracking build! Really am going to tech out my room.
