I am guessing you already have a HDD then? Stating the obvious but if you haven't got one then an SSD will make a hell of a difference.

yeah was going to rip one out of my current rig, but was thinking of a SSD aswell.

Not too bothered about the 3 free games so i will look into the 280x , and thanks for the specs ThaReaperGuy ill look them over :) reason i went for the msi MB was because of the oc genie as i have it on my current board and its never worked (issue with my type of ram), and always wanted to try it lol, also would 520w be enough to power that?, also the retail cpu is on week special so slightly cheaper than OEM :)

Gigabyte are always a safe bet due to the UK RMA service, plus their quality of board is very good. I wouldn't worry about some overclocking software/utility, you'll probably never use it anyway over tweaking/overclocking and what's available anyway!

The 520W will be perfect for the single card, if you want to go Xfire then look towards a 750W/850W. :)

• The D3HP comes with a free £30 performance cooler.
• I reviewed the board here - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18518312
• The voltage unlocked Asus Matrix includes three free games via AMD gold ticket.

The RAM can go into slots 2+4 to help clear the heatsink fan.

Ok thanks for your input guys appreciate it, can i ask why people think the 7970 is better than the 280x?

Comes with free games, the Matrix for example is unlocked so you can increase the voltages for even higher clocks, it is also clocked faster than the MSI 280 out of the box.

You do know that the R9 280 is a 7970GHz edition renamed to fit into AMDs new naming structure?

ah, not too fussed about the free games tbh, only difference i can see is that the 280x supports DX 11.2 . Will i miss much

They are the same Tahiti core, they both support the same technologies, they are identical except for name and speeds and freebies etc.

My R9 280's even appear as 7970's in some benchmarks.
