8500 + DDR2 - Should the Heatsinks get hot ?

Surprised to almost burn my fingers on my Ballistix heatsinks. (8500 ones)

they are not really overclocked much - they are running at 4-4-4-10 960 MHz - 2.25V - stock voltage (my P5-B doesn't have a 2.2V setting)

I would think they will get pretty hot yes.

thanks - just quite a contrast to my heavily overclocked C2Duo which seems hot - but the heatsink isn't even warm to the touch.

glad Crucials warranty is up to scratch

They're not overclocked at all - they should run 1066MHz 5-5-5-15.

well they are really - as they are only rated at 4-4-4-12 @ 800 MHz, and 5-5-5-15 @ 1066 - so at 4-4-4-10 960 - they're sort of overclocked ?

Just found I could run them at 2.15V (well so far) at 960 so fingers crossed

The actual chips themselves are overclocked as their only rated to run at 800MHz, Crucial have just pre-overclocked them.

Dont think they should be that hot m8 mine in my sig run well cool when overclocked.

Isn't it the case that Crucial have certified them at 1066MHz as they actually boot up at PC6400 the first time. The ones on the PC8500 kits are speed-binned to guarantee running 1066MHz@5-5-5-18 - no?
