Looking for a wee bit of lens advice here.
Basically, I've been playing with fast constant aperture zooms for a bit. I've tried Tokina, Tamron & Nikon's offerings (not the Nikkor 28-70, way out of my price range) and like but don't love any of them. The Tamron & Tokina just don't have the sharpness I'm after (plus I hate the Tamron build) and the Nikkor is a bit weird to handle - I could get used to it, I suppose, but I'm just not entirely happy with it.
As for the Sigma, I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with the build and handling (I use a Sigma 15-30mm which, as far as I can tell, is fairly similar) but I'm again not entirely sure that it has that edge I'm after.

I'm after this lens for portraiture work with the idea that I could quickly get group shots in, too. But I'm starting to think I'm better off scrapping the group side of things (I have other lenses good for this, just a matter of a lens swop) and getting a prime good for portraiture. Namely the Nikkor 85mm F/1.8

What do people think of that? Should I just re-evaluate the constant aperture zooms, or get an 85mm prime?
