Im looking to piece together a new build.
Currently have an i7-860 and am finding it hard to make a choice on cpu's

I have seen the "argument" for the 5820k - but im not convinced at all...
By the time 6 core is needed for Gaming there will be far better options.

The 6700k brings some good Mobo features/extras
and seems like it will be the next 5+ year chip of choice no ?

This will mostly be for Gaming and recording might dabble with some streaming later down the line /Who Knows?
I will be putting around £1700 into the build

Whats your take on best cpu to get?

Thanks

Nah not feeling multi gpu at all, feeling like watercooling cpu and 1 gpu

I am leaning on skylake and it seems it really only is a price issue
holding me and many others back

i guess intel need to shift x99 somehow :D

If you're mostly gaming, skylake is a no brainer. It's stock configuration is better geared towards gaming. However I'd wait a month or so for stock and pricing to settle down. If you cant wait, then I'd keep an eye out for cheap deals on 5820k and x99.

ehh
I Will try hang on a month or so 6700k just feels right.

Will probably grab VIII GENE mobo the color scheme is toned down and its given me ideas on a theme

would you say £1700 main build <£400 Water sounds about right?

Exactly which features of Skylake do you think are worth the money over an x99 platform?

ipc gains
single core performance
Higher clock OTB
Oc potential

So i get an x99 still have to grab costly mobo.
I wont be running dual or tripple gpu's ever its wasteful
Ill probably be sticking with sammy evo ssd's and a 2tb HD

But hey i can still be swayed - ive been on the fence for weeks now
thats why i have joined the forums

Thanks

So i see like everywhere, it is heavily debated which would be better

Maybe i am being silly but when i had my current set up it was already old
i ripped the cpu out of an off the shelf shop build - that i paid over the odds for

I want whats current now not last years kit

Have read on several forums that Dx12 Might benefit cores
and that its very much complicated for devs to even code for multicore/threads
Some think that Dx12 will lessen the need for a beefy CPU
in the first place...

z170 Boards pull ahead in more/new tech even if its by a small margin

The only reasons i may end up with a 5820k is multi clienting games
but even then im not a chinese gold farmer :p so wont see much difference

for a decent mobo and ram its a lot more expensive
ok my budget is on the larger size, but i am watercooling and
going 1440p thats a good wedge right there - building a desk to

Honestly no closer as everywhere i read its 50/50

thanks
