8600 Benched (Real)

"These cards are wild beasts when it comes to overclocking... and the irony is that this 8600GTS arrived physically damaged in the first place, one SMD component knocked off and one SMD capacitor loose."

lol it was also damaged :D

Now the thing is do these things come with 512mb ram? With 512 ram and crazy overclocking they could well be worth it! then again for the overclocking potential alone they will be!

I expect stock performance will fall to just over 6k in 3D Mark 06 however!

Probably be a bit shorter than the GTS, 7600 GT length (if they are shorter than GTS) i think they will be around, from the pics they don't look as long as the GTS. :)

i did a quick comparison of the 3 cards. not perfect by any means, but it should give us an idication of the card lengths:)

even if i havent got the perspectives bang on, its obvious the 8600 is short when you look at the overhang after the pci-e connector:)

Nice work Mr Miller

Indeed, is anyone able to use the fact the GTX is 9.5 to work out how long the 8600 is in that pic? needs to be around 7" not to be aught on the v300 floppy drive bay.
