8600 upgrade advice

This isnt for me but a m8, he recently bought my old pc which was a E8600@4ghz would a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 2.83GHz or
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz be any sort of good upgrade for the price.

They are between 120-180 pounds new i'm guessing a 2nd hand option would be better for him.

He wants it to run bc2 better as well as running bf3 at a decent level.

Looking at some becnchmarks (mainly the Q9550) which is similar to the Q9505 there is small amount of performance difference between the E8600 and the Q9505 but majority is in multi-threaded applications like
video editing.

Thanks for that seems like it out performs the quad in most games. But 80+ fps on crysis warhead? i would expect half that from the e8600 dont remeber it being that fast when i had it

*edit* nm i jsut tried them settings out and was getting 100+ fps
