Hi lately iv'e been havin some problems with my 8600gt xfx.

The card is crashing due to over heating. The cpu is fine because its 30 degress idle and 45 load or something.

the graphics is 55+ idle, and 75-82 load on css.

I checked the GPU heatsink and it has basicly no thermal paste on it theres only a little bit on the heatsink.

I orderd artic silver 5 and should get it tomorow, just wondering if it will stop the card crashing under load.

thanks.

Pc specs:

AMD Pheneom tri core 8450
3 gigs ddr2
nvidia xfx 8600gt 512mb ddr2
650 watt power supply
320 gigs hardrive.

Mistake has already been made! AS5 on a graphics card is bad idea, please please please be careful, i would have ordered MX2 as it has no metallic deposits that can possibly short anything out if heaven forbid it got anywhere other than inteneded.

Agreed, but don't you mean mx-2 ?

Well i put some onto the card today, only a thin layer, even took the heatsink off after applying it and no contact. Temps went from 57 idle- 46 idle

Gone test load now thanks
