8600GTS Overclock - how far?

675/1000 is default clocks, whats a safe overclock for 1 of these with no additional cooling to the default heatsink/fan. will it do 750/1050 or something?? my mate is building a pc and im going to help him tomorrow, just want a nice safe overclock 100% stable.

Probally best to let the nVidia overclocking tool auto predict the clocks and see if its stable,but no one can tell you how a card will overclock unfortunatly

There is no guaranteed overclock. Just up the clocks by 20mhz, test, repeat, until it's hits coruptions or the temps get too high. Then back it down a little.

yeah i know how to overclock hehe, but what clocks are ppl getting without adding a new cooler/watercooling? as i cant be bothered using a lot of time overclocking it, i'd rather enter a safe overclock and just leave it at that.
