8600m GS

well u should able to play it i think but no aa no af low/medium settings hopefully

i seen people play on x700 mobility i dont know how much 8600 is better but try it and tell us how is it.

I too would be VERY interested to know if this GPU is capable of playing CSS at a decent rate.

say 80FPS+ in 1440x900 With NO AA/AF, and all settings on LOW?

im tempted to get a lappy with this card o any advice would gladly be recieved!

And yes, ive heard these cards have a potential problem, how many people have had them fixed under warranty?\

I have one in my laptop, with a 2GHz c2d mobile and 2GB ram under Vista.

I'll just test CSS, can't remember off the top of my head

My dads laptop has the GT version in it, and it easily plays the source games at 1440x900, around 60 FPS so its smooth as butter. I expect the GS could pull it off too, but as people say its mostly down to the proccesor.

The GS is a bit carp but it will run those games fine. My mate has Radeon X700 which is slightly slower, and he's running source engine games perfectly fine. WoW looks like %&*$ so it will be fine too.

i have a 17" lappy with an ATI 2600 Pro that runs CSS at 80-100 FPS maxed with AA, the 8600m gs is around the same performance but it is a highly ati optimised game so performance should be similar but without aa

Pulse did you get any benchies??

I understand that the card will play CSS, I'm interested if it will play it at a decent frame-rate, IE AT LEAST 75+ FPS, really it would be nice if someone had the card on a laptop who could say definitively!

anyhow cheers the info, soz for attempted thread hijack!

Sorry mate, laptop had a fit when I was moving files from one Steam profile to another and then just ended up playing Vegas 2. I'll get a bench done now. :)

Right, CSS @ 1440*900

Medium/High: 2xAA, 16xAF - 81FPS
Low: 2xAA, 16xAF - 86FPS Lol

The 5fps is a small price to pay considering how carp it looked on low. Further testing shows they don't handle AA well..

Medium/High: NoAA, 16xAF - 105FPS
High: NoAA, 16xAF - 96FPS (Looks best at these settings)

Main PC (as per sig)

1680x1050 @ Maxed, 8xAA, 16xAF - 340FPS

Edit: One more for fun..

High: 2xAA, 16xAF - 73FPS
