860k vs 7850k help please

we recently had a problem with my sons pc which now requires a gfx card. a friend kindly swapped his 7850k he had spare for the 860k to get the pc running.

he has now got a gigabyte gtx760 up and running with the apu.

what i would like to know is what cpu would be better for him to game on??? my friend says with the igpu disabled that both cpus are identical and perform exactly the same. is this correct

thnx so there really is no point in swapping them over again then as that would mean a trip out in the rain

I would be incined to say that the 860k would be slightly stronger than the 7850k.
If youre son now has the gtx760 in he should be able to see some better fps using the 860k over the 7850k

one more question, when using a dedicated gfx card, when he upgrades his ram does it need to be 2133/2400 or will 1600 be fine. read that faster ram is better but moreso if using integrated gfx

he doesnt have the 860k. a friend swapped it with him so he could play cs go. unfortunately the apu with 4gb 1600 ram wouldnt hold steady 60fps

System memory speed/bandwidth is very important for APUs (intergrated graphics) because the system ram is used by the APU as video ram.

The dedicated gpu will have its own, optimized for gaming, video ram. It won't touch the system memory. Fast system memory is still better but it will have almost no effect on gaming performance.
