8700k 4.8ghz stable...

Have you got a avx offset? And ive seen ur watercool setup its impressive :)
I'll compare against mine later in the week.

Not sure, I might update BIOS later on who will check - from what I’ve monitored though it’s hitting it’s intended clock in stress so expect it’s set to 0...

I run mine at 4.8ghz @ 1.28v for 24/7. Temps remain under 70c, I bench with 5ghz but to be honest the difference isn' worth all the extra.

I think it would be wise to leave hwinfo running to check to WHEA errors if you don't want to run stress tests. It could help with troubleshooting any errors you may get down that road.
Just my thoughts.

I'm old school so I monitor everything pc related (just in case) You can never be too careful

Hey there.

Is it useful to run occt.. prime... or realbench is enough? Ran realbench for 30m, 66 degree max (delid with eisbaer lt aio)

i've managed 4.8 at 1.28 but on occt with avx it does not passes, need to put an offset and then it drops to 4.6 so I can't achieve to know what's the lowest vcore i need for 4.8

Thanks

I've dropped my 5.1ghz delidded down to 4.8 just for temps and noise tbh.
1.28v at 4.8ghz give a maximum of 65c under avx loads. The same cooler etc gives me 85c - 90c for 5.1ghz at 1.37v
Not worth it for 24/7 usage. Plus lowering the core clock has allowed me to run memory at 4000mhz even on a 4 dimm board.

Hang on... so, all the hardcore Intel folks are running their 8700k's at 4.8 but Ryzen's got a target of a 5.3ghz+ CL to beat... interesting :)

I see at least one prominent sig that needs updating ;)

This was a while back, I actually ended up finding my pump on my AIO was dying.
Replaced and back to 5.1ghz with about 75c ish under full synthetic loads :)
Besides, clockspeed isn't the only thing holding ryzen back in games.
My sig does need updating, now upto 4000mhz on the ram. Try that on ryzen :)

heh :D fair.

We shall see ;) (no predictions either way atm, it's all FUD)
That said, seems reasonable to compare everyday to everyday running rather than max benchies?

I expect reasons to not but... most I think would agree :)

Honestly, the difference is not noticeable. (4.8ghz vs 5.1ghz) But if I can and it cost nothing but a little extra heat then why not, right?
