Hi everyone,

I'm coming from the overclock times of amd duron 600Mhz where you would OC with HBA2 pencil L2 and L3 mods and the reason why i have vapochilled on the nick is because i had a vapochill system back in 2003.

Anyway, i wanted to give you a background that i'm no noob but feeling like it.
I dont understand the delta differences nowadays

Facts:
- Custom EK loop, DC5 pump, EK radiator, nothing else on the loop besides CPU
- new Artic MX4 applied and block tight
- open case P3, so no airflow problems

System:
- 8700k @ 4.9Ghz (no AVX offset) @ manual vcore 1.335 bios (LL6 / AC DC 0.01), vcore variation: 1.320 ~ 1.344
- anything bellow 1.335 in bios leads to errors in OCCT. If i put offset to AVS i could lower the voltage, but eg COD warzone uses AVX, so no point in that.

Tests: Prime and OCCT

Deltas:
- During idle i see as low as 30c
- During OCCT load and small ftts on prime, temps will float based on the stress test.
- 75 to 90 is what i see depending on the test running. Thats 45c deltas to 50s.
- The temps between the cores dont have big variation, so tight of block is fine

I had the same problem on my 6700k before upgrading to the 8700k.
Either i am doing something wrong or both cpu's have IHS problem and require delid.

My OC experience tells me that if the heat transfer is proper, the IHS would heat hardly the cooper block of EK and the EK would properly transfer the heat to the water. But such a 45c jump when the test start, can only be explain by the fact that the ek block is not getting hot. Beucase such a jump in a second... i dont believe the EK block gets hot in a sec.
And i see tons of threads like this... tons! So.... it seems to me that the water blocks are not getting proper heat transfer.

What do you guys think?

Think your chip needs a delid to calm it down. If you cpu block is not getting hot then your mount is crap. What paste are u using

Mount is tight and nice. I even added some washers to increase pressure. Didnt improve.
From what i've seen online, this is "normal" on non-delid chips.

Im using MX4 atm.
I ordered direct die mount.
I will delid the chip and make direct dire mount using this guard. Delid itself can improve 10 to 15 and i saw that direct die can improve 5 to 6 more.
A 20c drop would bring my max temp from 90 to 70 at 5ghz - all core including avx. Thats nice.
