Hi
I own an 8700k.. I was running it @5.0Ghz ever since i got it and @5.2 for an occasional benching session.

Recently i delided and now i can do 5.4..but i noticed i can't get anywhere near the scores i was doong with 5.2
3Dmark, cinebench.. Everything is slower..
I am really lucky if i can match my 5.2 score with 5.4..
How to get my performance back? Any tips?
Would using older windows build help?

I did change from an Atx asus z390 gaming e to itx msi z390i gaming edge ac... But i don't think that is the issue..

I would guess its an accumulation of different boards so the memory timings may be slightly different and newer BIOS' and windows patches to mitigate all of the security vulnerabilities that have been discovered on intel CPU's.

How much performance have you lost?

An increase from 5.2 to 5.4 in just under 4% so with all the things I listed above it's reasonable to assume given margin of error in benchmarking to that nothing is really wrong with you system.

If you are running your memory at XMP profile you could probably gain that back or more with secondary and tertiary memory timings in synthetic benchmarks but real world you are talking tiny percentages.

Also in 3dmark is that the overall score or the CPU score that has remained the same?

Yes i am talking about the cpu score. Not the overall
I am not expecting massive gains in games etc.
Synthetic benchmarks though.. I was expecting it to be better.. I quess im gonna have to try with my old motherboard

There are several reasons why your scores could be lower. The change in brand and also size in motherboard could definitely give you a loss. Also the change in OS versions. You should also check your are not getting any throttling.

Do tests at 5.2Ghz on your current system and compare to 5.4Ghz.

First and third results are showing as score 0?
i don't think you are paying attention.. we are talking about CPU Score
Do tests at 5.2Ghz on your current system and compare to 5.4Ghz.
its in post number 7

and no.. no throttling ... i can run prime and aida64 @ 5.3 no problem

I would have said throttling (you haven't shown that this is not the case) as I would assume you would be having the same background tasks running or running benches in safe mode.
