Hoping someone can help.

I'm looking for a sub £500 midi controller with the most realistic hammer action / weighted keys.

Not a lot of space so thinking my best route is to store this on my desk so I can push it to the back out of the way when not in use.

Having learnt on a baby grand I've tried to continue my hobby with various keyboards but, as strange as it may seem, whenever I get the chance to use something with a more realistic action than my synths I just feels more natural and enjoyable.

It seems pointless to spend money on something with masses of built in functionally because it's a lot more affordable to update and play via my PC.

So, ideal device would simplely have a on/off button and a USB connection for the PC - and 88 weighted keys :-)

Top runner at the moment is Casio CPD 120 but keen to look at options.

Cheers,
Roy

Definitely some potential there. I hate looking for long at these things because I always end up spending more than I originally intended. The Roland A88 has taken my fancy from the reviews but think I'll need to go try some of them out.

Ugggghhhh Kawai VPC looks insane as well but need to stick to 500 price point so any more suggestions welcome.

Personally I'd be inclined to look at:

- the Studiologic Numa range
- the 88-key Arturia Keylab, though I'm not sure of its build quality
- the Akai MPK88 (I know someone on here has one)
- the Casio PX5S, though it is not just a controller and will be over-budget unless you are very lucky. It's very good for the money, though.

If second-hand is an option, look at the Kawais, which are more or less the best mid-range ones in my opinion.

Ok, went a little over budget but I'm pretty pleased as I've picked up a second hand Roland FP-50 of my dad's family friend for £650.

It was display model that has since been gigged with, but since he's looking to quickly get funds together I've managed to pick up a bargain.

Sold unseen and he's dropping it off tomorrow but unlikely to get conned as I know him personally.

Cheers for the advice everyone but seemed like to good a deal to miss!
