hey there, am thinking about indulging in one of the 8800's, however at the mo my case is a super lanboy. Has anyone tried fitting either of these two monsters (GTX/GTS) into one of these cases and how have they got on?

Lo there

I got my new 8800GTS yesterday, and I have an antec super lanboy. It fits no problem :) (is identical dimensions to my 7800GTX 512 - about 9 inches long).

An 8800GTX will not fit in this case - they are 275mm long - measure your case and feel the pain!

It was this fact that threw me to the GTS really. There's no way I'm shelling out £500 (again!) on a graphics card, then having to get a new case, and new power supply. I love my lanboy case. It's got blue lights an everyfink :p

Your motherboard should have no bearing on the card overclocking so it should be fine... as long as they aren't another 7900gt.

A 8800 and compatible cases thread would be useful.

I bought a wavemaster, and it is just big enough in length. However the power connectors from the Tagan 700W PSU are nice and sturdy, which means the door of the case won't fit back on! Oh, the irony; I didn't consider width to be important ;)
Also, you won't be fitting a hard drive in the bay directly infront of the GTX. And the whole case will be rather packed with cables. Would it really be that difficult for Tagan to offer modular versions of their 600+W PSUs

I could just drop it all back into my xaser3, but its too ugly for a machine of this power! I doubt OCUK will take my Wavemaster back, but I could put my old machine in it

And can I also have a rant about rounded IDE cables. They're ridiculous as they are very inflexible. At least flat ones will bend and hide away much nicer. The benefit of improved airflow with rounded IDE cables is completely negated in my opinion.
