Hi all;

My Grpahics card is on its way out. The fan is getting VERY noisy and the the card is getting so hot it crashes.

I have a 19" TFT thats a few years old, but a fairly new Intel quad core PC.

I was all set to get a 8800GT as anything more was above my price range, but have noticed talk of the GTS for £138 (which is what I thought I was going to pay for a GT):confused:.

Is the GTS a better card? Some reviews seems to indicate not? Is the OC own brand version recommended? It seems to be slightly overclocked over standard?

Thanks in advance

Nif

GTS has more grunt but a £110 GT will do the job ok on a 19" TFT, but for the money the GTS is a very attractive propersition

It depends on how much you want to pay. you can get an 8800gt for a shade under £110 pounds now which is a great price for something that performs so well. you need to decide if the extra £30 odd is worth the few extra FPS?

GTS easy.

Better fan, more SPs, usually higher ocs, and it can get close to the GTX in some situations... On that monitorr, it'll be overkill though

At upto 1920x1200 4x FSAA 16x AF my fairly well overclocked 8800GT keeps pace with a moderatly overclocked GTX in most games... its only when playing above 1920 with lots of FSAA that the GTX really shows it a clean pair of heels.

with a 19" monitor you won't notice the difference with anything currently.

but if you want a better card for the sake of having a better card, and can afford it, you may as well.
