Now i am pretty sure this is not a BSOD as it is a clear blue rather than the DOS blue you get with a crash.
I am not sure what causes it as it is completely random
I have installed a fresh copy of windows on a zero'd samsung drive
The card isn't overheating it barely gets over 60oC full load and i am pretty sure its not the motherboard
CPU was tested with prime95 and the maximum temp of each core was about 56oC

The spec:
  • Asus P5K-E WiFi Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz @ 3.01Ghz
  • GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
  • Enermax Modu 82+ 425W EMD425AWT Modular ATX2.3 Silent PSU
  • Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD502IJ)
  • Samsung SH-S203D/BEBN 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
  • OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express)

Any idea's what i could try to narrow down the problem? as i dont really want to post it back to ocUK if it is fine

Edit: Just noticed there are some newer drivers than i have installed will give them a go now

Yeah, wipe the old drivers, boot to safe mode and run driver cleaner, reboot, install new ones, reboot again. Hopefully should sort it out. If not would be helpful if you could write down what the BSOD says.

it doesnt say anything, its just a blank screen the same colour as the default windows background (when you turn off the wallpaper)

If it was a BSOD it would be helpful as it would lead to something

Another odd thing is that it doesnt crash when running 3dmark06 or vantage
P95 doesnt yield any errors
I will run memtest again after i backup the drives

Thanks for the reply though
