8800 gt replacement

hi all just wanting your views i have just about enough now for a gtx 280, and am considering getting one this week, i want the card so i can up my res in games i have a 30" dell @ 2560/1600 max res, should i get a 280 now or save another 100 quid and get the 4870x2, which is best at very high res

Definitely worth the extra for a 4870X2 at that res.

My understanding is that the 4870x2 is a fair better than the 280. And that res is probably what the 4870x2 was made for.

I think the 4870x2 over a good range of games in the hardwarecanucks review was on average 30 percent faster at 2500 res with 4xaa than a gtx280

well guys just read the above review of the 4870 x2 looks like id nee a new psu to run an x2 so looks like the 280 is favourite once again which should run on my 650 psu hopefully.
