Hi there,

I have just reinstalled, cleaned and reconnected my PC, everything was working perfectly till I installed BF2142.

Now when I play the game, within 5 seconds I get a horrible high pitched noise from my speakers and the PC freezes, hangs or BSOD.

I have removed the sound card... doesthe same thing.

I then installed 3dMark06... gets to the second "game" and does the same thing. Same thing happens when I try and use ntune for the gfx, freezes instantly?

PC is fine for playing movies, music, browsing etc.

Does this sound like a gfx card problem as it only happens with games?

which version of the 8800gts are you using? make/model?
are you using the latest drivers?
also, what are your pc specs?

Sorry:

BFG 8800 GTS 640mb
DFI SLI-DR Expert
Ballistix 2x1GB PC4000
OCZ Powerstream 600w
X2 4800+
74GB Raptor
Win XP

I am using the latest nvida driver 97.92.

Motherboard BIOS is upto date.

Graphics card was working perfectly before I formatted windows and cleaned my PC, reinstalled everything. :(

when you go into the nvidia control panel, do you have it set to let the 3d application decide? if you don't, set it to that, then try playing the game.

Right, i originally had it set to my preferences but have just amended it to "let the app decide" like you said and I get the same result, screen froze within 10 seconds of a game.

Hi there,

Just reinstalled the nvidia drivers and got ran 3dMark06... the test stopped but the PC didnt crash this time.

hey there,
can you...
double click on the text, press ctrl + c, then go on google and on this forum and press ctrl+ v[paste] paste the error code and i think you might get a fix.

i have never heard of this before :/
have you checked that your gfx card is fitted finely on the motherboard etc.

Make sure that the card is seated properly (remove and refit), and that the power dongle is plugged in tight.

When cleaning the PC, could you have damaged any capacitors/resistors? Did you put a vacuum cleaner near the PC, or use any synthetic materials that could have caused static?
