8800 GTS Dual Screen Issues

Ok I appreciate some help on this one as I've tried almost everything.

I have just recieved 2 of these monitors (LG L194WT 1440x900) . Set them up as usual (Dual Screen), turned on pc, to my horror monitor #1 was sharp and very crisp (very nice too) and monitor #2 was very blury and had trouble reading words etc. So I swaped the dual DVI cables around on my graphics card and now monitor #2 is sharp and monitor #1 is very blury. At least I know its not the monitors that are duff. So I restared PC and now both are very blury

What ever I do nothing seems to work. I assume its a software/setting issue. I have tried latest drivers for monitors and graphics card but to result. I have tried fiddling with the DPI and resolutions and no result. I'm running XP Pro SP2.

Any ideas on this one?

*Update

ok, I have managed to get Monitor #2 sharp again by playing with the scaling options on the Nvidia control panel (from Nvidia scaling to device scaling). I try and do the same for Monitor #1 and it does nothing, doesnt even refresh the screen before it says "are these settings ok?"

I noticed that what ever monitor is blured, the signal going into it is 1280x1024 and the monitor thats sharp is 1440x900. The 8800 GTS and windows both tell me that 1440x900 are going to both monitors.

I'm starting to dought if the 8800 GTS can perform dual screen 1440x900.

Thank you in advance for advice.

I find that very surprising that a decent card cant do that resolution dual screen.

I understand you swapped the two monitors - but how did you do this - just by switching the cable - or actually getting another cable? What Im trying to say is , are you sure you have covered both cables being ok as well as both ports on the card? Try and borrow a cable from a mate or something if possible and see if that makes any difference.

Its possibly a faulty card, but I would double check the connections, cables and ports on the card before returning.

I have physicaly swapped both monitors around and its not a cabling or monitor issue. I'm having major problems with Nvidia's control panel (Ver 1.3.6.17) its not doing what im telling it to do :( I really dont know on this one, I've even rebuilt my system from scratch with new drivers and everything. It does seem that port 1 on my gfx card will not output 1440x900 and Ive had real problems getting port 2 to work but somehow managed it.

I've found that the new CP doesn't remember some settings which I apply on it. It's a bit annoying! :)

What happens if you set another mode (i.e. not Dual Screen) perhaps, Clone or Horizontal Span?

Basically it's going blurry because it's not outputing the native res, is that correct?

What version of Forceware are you running? Have you tried a re-install of the software?

Yes thats it, its not outputing the screens native res of 1440x900, sorry but im useless at explaining things. I have tried other modes like span 2880x900 etc etc but still only 1 monitor recieved its native res. The control panel does seem to forget that I have changed a setting and doesnt apply it. I'm using the latest forceware from Nvida's site v97.44

I'm hoping its not a hardware issue and just a silly driver issue.

Possibly try a different driver revision, or a beta, just to see if it is a driver problem. If it turns out to do them on many different ones, then I would get onto Nvidia and if you don't have any joy from them I think you would have good grounds for an exchange or a refund as the product is not working as advertised basically. :)

Perhaps try working through the old CP and not the new version also?

Ok I found the original drivers for my BFG 8800 GTS and it seems to have done the trick. Both sharp and Both looking good, Once again thank you for your help, towards the end I was loosing a lot of hair.
