Hi,

I have already a 550w PSU (10a 50-60mhz) with this rail:

+3.3=28, +5= 5, +12=30/-5=0.5, -12=0.8, +5vsb=2.5

Which I'm using for my x1950pro, will it also be suitable for a

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS Extreme 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail?

Thanks!

If that is 30Amps on the 12v rail then it seems to be ok. Have you got the PSU model or a link to it's specifications?. What else will this PSU be running? (your rig specs).

Hi, thanks for that, it'll be running:

Abit P35 Pro with Q6600 + Artic Pro 7
4gb Corsair DDR2 6400
Random Sony DVD RW (from existing PC)
and a Samsung F1 750gb drive, probably put one or two of my existing 150GB drives on there if I need more room.
And the OC 8800GTS.

Nothing too power consuming I believe, but better to be safe and check!

PSU 'Colors-it 550w' Silent PSU

If you want to see your hardware run for some time, I would reccommend you change your PSU to something a little more well known.

If that blows, your hardware will probably be borked with it too.

Hmm, that 520w Corsair has some stonking reviews.

Looks like I'll need to find another £70.... <sigh>

Still, like you say, better to spend an extra £70 now than have to replace everything!

Thanks ;)

Hell yeah. With a machine like that and the GTS you'll want the reliability of Corsair acting as the heart of your machine. A 5 year warranty just makes it a little bit better also. At least this component should last you a long time as efficiency has been on the increase and should continue to do so.

lol corsair 520 'THE psu to have'

i saw the corsair 650*** on a sale the other day, it was cheaper that the 520 if i remember correctly?

*checks*
