Just a couple of queries about SLI mode basically.

1. Can a 8800 GTX and a 8800 GTS SLI with each other? I thought they can't but doesnt hurt to check...

2. Can different manufacturers 8800 GTS' SLI together, i.e. an inno3D one with an EVGA one?

3. What kind of PSU would be needed to supply the power needed for two 8800 GTS' in SLI?

Thanks in advance!

No, you can't SLI an 8800GTS and an 8800GTX. No, you can use different brand cards in the same SLI setup. You'd probally be needing a 750W+ PSU to have a G80 SLI rig.

:)

Aww so my 700w tagan wouldnt be enough juice for 2 x 8800gtx? :(

I Was thinking about getting a 2nd card :D

not sure ya will be able to with a NF4 board, apparently 8800 cards need 2 x 16 lane pci-e ports to run sli, why I dont know ! sooo annoying, lol

Probably something to do with all the data throughput...? ;)

I suppose the thinking at NVidia was that those who can aford 800 quid for a couple of GTXs can probably stomach an extra £150 - £250 for a new 680i board.

Ok thanks for all the replies.

Just to clarify:
-8800 GTS won't go with a 8800 GTX.
-8800 GTS' of different brands will SLI together
-You need a PSU of at least 800w to power this

That's as i understand it, this is correct?
