Hi, I just had my 320mb 8800 GTS delivered today and I've ran into a bit of a pickle!

The card is seated fine in my p5n-e and it's all hooked up. When I turn the computer on, the card fan starts spinning but the computer just wont display anything. I can't even get into bios. My xerox tft says no input detected and my CRT wont work either.

My only thoughts are, the hiper 530w I've been meaning to get rid of can't support the card. I've tried running it off the single pci-e line and also using a y-cable with 2 molex connections, neither work.

Are my assumptions right or could it be the card?

Welcome to the forums. :)

Have you got the card in the correct slot, and have you got that SLi paddle card around the right way for single card mode, if yes then id see if you can try it in another machine as your 530w PSU should be able to handle it fine.

Thanks for the reply :)

Yeah, it's in the correct slot and the sli card is facing the default direction "single video card" pointing upwards toward the first pci-e slot.

Guess I'll have to wait until tonight and try it in a friends machine.

yeah i got the p5n - e as well. i made stupid errors setting it up:

graphics card in the blue slot (i put it in black, doesnt work)
ram seated properly
make sure every single cable is connected (again, stupid error but worth a try)

also, did you previously use an ATI card? if so , get rid of every trace of ATI from your hdd, as its not needed at all anymore.

hopefully this could help.

if not, it *could* be the psu, but tbh i doubt that, it should have enough juice to at least boot it.

Try it in SLi mode, I did hear of a funny bug like that (it was on the abit 650 though)

no it doesnt work either. i also made the error of having that stupid red card facing the wrong way, only 'single mode' will work.

edit: i just saw you meant it appears on the ABIT 650, sorry

I had the same problem with my 8800GTS when I first got it, everything turned on and the card's fan started spinnning but the monitor said no input. Did all the normal tests and the card appeared dead.

Luckily the turn-around at OcUK for my RMA was incredibly quick, they got it in the morning, and an hour later had dispatched a replacement.

What make\model is your card? Mine was a BFG 8800GTS OC 256mb..

This was the thread I made when mine didn't work, maybe some of the tips in it will help you?

Unplug everything except the PSU, mobo, 1 stick of RAM, CPU and gfx card - will it post?

Hasn't worked, it just stays on a black screen and says no input detected. The fan is spinning on the card though. Could the dvi/vga connectors be playing up?

You could try swapping them over (try the other DVI/VGA output) but it doesn't look good.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check that thread out jim, thanks. I'm thinking it may need returning though had no luck so far with any of the suggestions.
Had a funny feeling things would go wrong when city link delivered it wrapped in brown paper, yeah like that's gonna protect it from city link employees!
