8800 GTX Brand - Any difference

One part of the G80 launch that had escaped me until now, was that all of the cards seem to be based on the Nvidia reference design. According to Custom PC, this was a NVidia launch requirement for the third party manufacturers (probably the first Asus design I've seen that hasn't tinkered with something :)

On that basis, are there any views as to whether it's worth getting any one brand over another, other than usual issues with bundles and/or after-sales service?

Well a search would give you all the answers you need.

Price and warranty etc...

EVGA 10yrs
BFG Lifetime

although are you realy going to keep a gpu for more than ten years?!?

<<has a bfg cos that's the only gtx that was in stock when i visited OCUK and i couldn't wait!

Every geforce 8800 board in the world comes outta the same factory in taiwan....there is no difference.......apart from the sticker on the heatsink, which can be pealed back to reveal the original one......

I got my bfg from overclockers.co.uk and its amazing and comes with a free t-shirt.....free t-shirts always get my vote......

You are missing the point.

Cards with nice warranty always fetch higher when you come to sell them on. ;)

Not only that but from reading on here, people only have good things to say about BFG's support.

Although the EVGA card does allow for a possible step-up.

Go with whichever card has the extras that suit you the most.

Well I for one am tempted by the EVGA step up and if I time my purchase right there should hopefully be a refresh around Feb/March time and then I could step up :)

They are all made by one company, Flextronic. So basically all the same cards, except for a few custom coolers. BFG and EVGA all have long/lifetime warranties. EVGA has the step up program. And BFG give you a t-shirt.

edit: XFX NOT LIFETIME IN THE UK.

Thanks for that, but as I said in the original post, I know that there are differences in terms of warranties / service levels etc. What I was curious about was whether the silicon and cooler etc were all identical.

They are, save for the EVGA special 8800GTX with a custom cooler. Haven't seen that specific model in the UK though.

Deja Vu.

Hi there

XFX UK/Europe does not have long/lifetime warranty or double warranty, that USA only.

Only two companies with good warranties for the UK are EVGA and BFG. :)
