8800 gtx died

my bfg 8800gtx just died, have yet to here from bfg about my rma request so thinking about getting a gpu to tied me over for little while, until i get my bfg 8800 from rma then just sell it.i assume they will ship me new bfg 8800gtx are they still availabe?.
thinging about getting 4870 as i game on 1900-1200 dell moniter, but i have bfg navidia mobo will this make difference or should stick navidia cards?

The model and make of mobo in no way dictates the type of graphics card you can use. The 4870 should run perfectly fine on that mobo just as any Nvidia card would. Definitely get the 4870, its a great buy.

just oc version, no it dead at the mo still awaiting rma.

Yes ive used BFG RMA serice recently and got a new 8800GTx back from bfg in just a few days very quick service also you can track the process of your RMA on their website.

How much would a fairly new 8800GTX go for on ebay atm ?

I did a few weeks ago, I mailed it off on Monday and had the card replaced/back home by Wednesday. I suspect they send out refurbished cards like Apple do with there RMA's in America and Canada (I only know for sure Apple do there).

I think this because they have such a fast workaround. They get your card on the Tuesday (As was my case) they prod it with something and declare its faulty and then one that was previously sent in that has been repaired gets sent out.

I'll add that its all speculation because when I received the different card there was no bit of paper explaining that my original card had problems (It did but I was curious what it was) and what this "other" card was that they sent me.
