Hi

I have a 8800 gtx ive bought a thermaltake tide water cooler , but the gpu on the 8800 is massive.
The water block covers 3/4 of the gpu would this be ok to run it like this.
the temp is ok but just wondered if it would get heat spots and be bad for the card.

many thanks

i wouldnt run it with 3/4 of the core covered one side will become too hot and may be damage
plus its best too keep the memory cool as well

Please do not mistake the large metal plate with nvidia written on it for the G80 core, the core is much smaller than the shim as it is used to spread out the heat from the core.

I would be wary of that cooler, i remember sapphire had large numbers of problems with their x1900xtx card that came with one of those, it overheated after long intense sessions of gaming, it doesn't help that the 8800gtx is hotter than the x1900xtx.

well atm the temp is stop on .. ive done a few burn tests etc and the temp stays below 52-53 ..

the rams and other chips that the stock sink cooled are fitted with copper sinks with a fan blowing on them and the small gpu looking chip at the front end of the card is fitting with a nice little copper sink and fan..

ive put a temp gauge on it all and temps are all below 40 so im guessing all looks ok.

i was just a little worried but creating heat spots on the gpu its self . but if its smaller then the cover it would be in the middle and the water block woul cover it no probs..

if ive missed anything please let me know what else i should look out for

Thanks
