Yeah the shreik is a power issue, have you tried re-connecting the cables, ive done some looking around and there is a few ppl with GTX's on that board.

re seated card

and cables !put 7800 back in and works fine will look at bios updated next
do not have another machine to try it in though

no newer bios.

will try and get some 6 pin adapters and use my old psu 485 w enermax.
lots of money and no play :(

no joy!

brought adapter for the 485 w enermax same shrill noise. after 2 seconds the fan on the card starts. then 2 followed by 6 beeps. just keeps making the noise until powered off.
any ideas?

Try turning the PC off completely (pull the cable out if you have to and wait for the power LED to go off on the MOBO) and then turn on again.

tried that

corsair and enermax doing the same will have to find another machine to try
maybe the card is borked?
or does not like my system though others have the same setup working fine.

Mine does the same thing on an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, I just have to turn it off from the back of power supply until the Mobo power LED goes off then I can boot.

When I get a chance I will RMA it.

Good to hear mate!

I currently have a PSU that does 30A on the 12V rail. I have an Opty 170 @ 2.8Ghz, 3 hdds, Creative X-Fi, 3 case fans, dvd drive. Im not really sure if i need to upgrade to a corsair but might just in case. But in saying that if i dont have to ill save £65! dont know what to do!
