8800 gtx in sli x8 mode

hello

justa quick question, i have a p5ne-sli 650i, and in sli mode the slots are x8 speeds. would 2 gtx's be slowed down by much? i know nothing really uses x16 to the full extent, but just wanted to know if i would lose a noticable amount of performance.

I had the Abit FP-IN9 SLi 650 board which also runs SLI in 2x8 and was told that you needed 2x16 to be able to run 8800's so i'm not sure if it would even work which annoyed me as they say its a SLI board

yeah same reasoning here. although geforce 7 cards can run in x8 mode perfectly, but as the 8800's are powerful i was just checking

It'll work fine, and it shouldn't be much slower than dual x16.

From what I remember the difference is almost non-existant.
