8800 GTX is a rocket!!!

Gotta say I agree that its the single most impressive upgrade I've ever made even when I had Matrox Millenium 2mb trying to play Quake 1 and bought a Diamond Monster 3d Voodoo 1 it didnt impress me as much as this has.
I too only have a 4800+ , I also agree with lay-z-boy about needing a nice big screen to appreciate it.
I've installed lots of games over the last few days just to test em out and compare them to how they played on my 7800GT , last night I installed HL2 Lost Coast(never bothered with it before cos HF2 makes me motion sick?) , and it impressed the hell out of me at 1900x1200 16xAF 8xQAA everything else maxed out looked really great and ran the graphic stress test at well over 100fps avg. Just awesome !
Lovin it ! :D :D

EDIT : havent tried loast coast at 16xAA it was just on 8xQ in the CP from playing NFSC , tbh there were no signs of ANY aliasing at 8xQAA, I'll give it a go at 16xAA now , will have a look what perf hit it takes from 8x to 16x

Dude, the 4800+ is an amazing CPU, you make it sound like its a SLOT A Athlon :)

Good to see that 1920x1200 res is creeping more and more into the mainstream! Maybe next year we will get a card that can run this res but is more affordable! :D

Yea, the c2d'S have really stolen the trumpet, haven't they?? :) The reality is that any A64/FX/X2 CPU clocked at 2.4GHZ+ will also own any game when paired up with a monster like this. Anyone who mostly games with their rig could seriously look at upgrading to an 8800 as opposed to c2d. Its about the same price if you have to buy new memory aswell.

Yeah I know it is , wasnt meant to sound negative about it and like bfar said I guess the c2d's have kinda stolen the thunder , I won't be changing over to Intel quite yet or maybe next year when more multithreaded app/games are around I may look at a quad core then again AMD will have new multicores out by then(oh the hard decisions we have to make :p ) , anyway I'm waffling now and gettin off the OP's topic
